ADDROCK OL' YELLER.
The Ol' Yeller V2 has the same basic tone, but we've eliminated
the clean leak, increased the output and added a very slight amount of
bass. The bass boost is almost more felt than heard, if that makes any
sense. The dynamics have also improves. It seems to breathe!
Need
an overdrive that sounds great with a variety of amps? With enough
variability to be useful as more than just a distortion generator? Well
the Ol' Yeller just might be the ticket!
Though the Ol' Yeller
is based on a familiar circuit, as are many overdrives past and
present, it is far from a clone. One thing you'll notice instantly is
the lack of the typical midrange hump and the extra clarity. There is
also more available gain and an increased output. But perhaps the most
obvious difference is in the tone control. The range is greatly
extended; so much so that you may think it is a little bright. This is
especially true if you try setting it up like your favorite clone or
vintage piece. However the range of the control, which is very
sensitive, will take you from dark and thick to "treble booster"
bright. This extra top end makes the Ol' Yeller particularly
well-suited for adding increased harmonic content to an already
overdriven or particularly dark amp.
The low-end and mid-range
content is voiced to sound great through any type of amp. It sounds
great with 6L6 type amps, 6V6 type amps, EL34 type amps, KT66 types and
even EL84 amps! Have I missed anything? We've experimented with an
exhausting number of amplifiers ranging from vintage pieces right
through modern day production pieces, low gain, high gain, it doesn't
matter. The Ol' Yeller is comfortable with them all! Additionally, the
"Yeller" responds amazingly well to pick dynamics and cleans up well
when you back off on the guitar's volume control making it sound and
feel more amp like. Of course it's true bypass with an LED and a DC
jack.
HARMONY CENTRAL USER REVIEWS:
Sound Quality: 10 This is the best sounding OD on the market. I have very high standards for handing out 10's, and this pedal got there.
Sound Quality: 10 One
of my students gave this to me to try out. I put it beside a ts-808
analogman modded tubescreamer. Wonderful pedal. Best I've ever heard.
Running through a deluxe reissue and an 84 tele I bounced back and
forth between the two at different settings. I found the addrock to
have higher end and output which is a good thing for me because I enjoy
high end bight but I also like the undistinguishable warmth of the ts.
Very, very quiet. Another definate plus. I'm going to hesitantly give
it a 10 because perfect scores don't come easy by me but I have to say
it really sings!!
Overall Rating: 10 My
band plays the music of Eric Johnson and I cannot believe to this day
how close to Eric's tone this pedal can get! I've been playing 21 years
and have never been happy with od pedals til I found Ol' Yeller.I wish
this pedal had a boost circuit for solos. The pedal is true bypass and
handbuilt with quality components. |
