So what's different about this buffer and the buffer you'd find on mass produced pedals? Well, the primary role of a buffer on a mass produced pedal is not to 'rescue' your guitar tone from degradation, but rather to drive the low quality transistor based switching system. The input impedance of these buffer circuits are thus designed not to keep all of the top end sparkle of your guitar tone. In some cases, the input impedance of this buffer is as low as 200kOhms, which is 25 times lower than the input impedance of the Boost 'n' Buff circuit. By adding the Boost 'n' Buff in your signal chain, especially near the front of your effects, you'll notice that in bypass mode your guitar signal will have a bit more sparkle and top end detail.

It also sounds throatier than the Blue Boy in high gain settings. The tone control is very intuitive to use (it's much closer to the Blue Boy's brightness control). It makes a great compliment to the Blue Boy, but its true soul-mate is the Crunch Box. The two pedals are a natural extension of each other.

MI AUDIO GI FUZZ. The GI Fuzz is a high gain fuzz design, featuring a trio of ultra low noise, high gain silicon transistors. This is not a fuzz for the faint hearted. It has about 20db more gain than a Fuzz Face, so you can think of the gain achievable as being equivalent to a a Fuzz Face at full tilt being driven by a booster! This is military spec fuzz, complete with a camouflage green aluminium enclosure and stencil script. The GI Fuzz is not a clone of anything out there.

MI AUDIO NEO FUZZ. Ahhh, the Neo Fuzz. This is the cr�me de la cr�me of fuzz. Vintage fuzz at its best. The circuit concept is the same as that of the GI Fuzz, but instead of NPN high gain silicon transistors, the Neo Fuzz is built around a pair of hand selected early 70s NOS AC128 germanium transistors. There's also a third silicon transistor which is not involved in the fuzz tone generation. The tone is pure germanium. Each germanium transistor is tested for leakage current and gain, and only the best of these transistors is used in the Neo Fuzz.

For starters, the two internal controls have now moved to the outside of the case. This means that it is no longer necessary to open up the pedal in order to tweak the pedal. Of course, the new Tube Zone contains all the standard features of all MI Audio pedals, namely, True Bypass switching, highest quality components, die-cast enclosure, and a power supply which can run up to 25V DC with a suitable external power supply. But the Tube Zone also features genuine chrome plating for the enclosure, as well as chrome knobs and an ultra bright (13,000 mcd) blue LED.

MI AUDIO MEGALITH DELTA HIGH GAIN DISTORTION. The Megalith Delta is part of the high gain MI Audio voyage that all began with the MI Amplification Megalith Beta 180W monster. It took some time for me to really understand the variables behind great high gain tones, but by designing the Megalith Beta from the ground up, I was able to really grasp how to make a complex, sophisticated high gain sound that kept all the nuances, huge bottom end and the clarity and character of the top end. All of these tricks and secrets have now passed onto pedal form, the Megalith Delta. The Megalith Delta pedal is a solid state 'model' of the Beta preamp, using JFETs to simulate the gain stages of the preamp valves. The transfer characteristics of FETs are very tube-like, so it seemed that this was a great place to start. In a nutshell, I was able to feed all these parameters into the Megalith Delta design, and come up with something which is as close as humanly possible to the original.
