| SNARLING DOGS BLACK DOG.
OK, now lets consider the reverse of the Tweed E Dog. You own a
classic American vintage or reissue amp setup and want more power and
punch like the British amps of the late 60s, then add a Black Dog to
your rig. Emulating the roar of a cranked up classic British amp driven
by EL34 power tubes, you get great bottom, smooth highs, mid-range
warmth, and exceptional in-your-face drive and crunch? Reminiscent of
the song after which it was named.

Since I
play all kinds of music, I need pedals that can dish out a wide range
of tones and styles. Snarling Dog pedals always have that little
something extra that helps me achieve those tones and styles that I am
trying to achieve. Little things like the Snarl and Bite Attack switch
can make a world of difference when writing new music.

I play a
lot of ZZTop style, SRV, blues, rock, hmmmm. everything from 50's to
90's, I suppose....depending on which band I'm playing with on which
night. I'd definitely get another one if both of mine disappeared.

I'm a
vintage Brit sound freak, and wanted a pedal that'd behave as a tube
preamp for my solid-state gear, that'd be portable and accurately
reproduce the classic UK sound. This baby does it very nicely, and is
utterly convenient -- I can carry it around with me, plug it into just
about anything that'll push a clean channel, and get the sound I like. People
looking for a more versatile tube drive should look elsewhere -- this
one's very heavily flavored, and doesn't really create any sounds other
than its one advertised one. On the other hand, it does that sound
beautifully. |
