CARL MARTIN HEAVY DRIVE.

The Carl Martin Heavy Drive is a 9V-battery-powered pedal designed to emulate the sound of a high gain tube amp used by heavy rock musicians. It offers loads of gain, but responds to the guitarist's touch without altering the basic tone of the guitar.

The Attack (mid) and Edge (treble) controls give access to a variety of flavours within this type of distortion style, without compromising sonic quality.

The Carl Martin Heavy Drive has enough gain on tap to lead you to Rectifier tone territory without low-string mush or raspy highs.

The Carl Martin Heavy Drive is true bypass and features an AC adapter jack.

Sound Quality: 9
The overdrive sound is nice and thick. The high gain tones, including scooped mids, sound very full and smooth at any level. I love the individual string definition at even high levels of distortion. There is some noise level at high gain settings, but no more than one would expect. Overall, this is a great sounding drive/distortion pedal.

If this pedal is ever stolen, I'll definitely buy another. I've had great response to my lead tone live.

If you want smooth articulate heavy drive/distortion, try a Carl Martin Heavy Drive pedal. I have been playing off and on for 27 years and this pedal is among the best I've used. It makes me play some heavier styles I have not always played.
