BOUTEEK OIL CAP PREAMP

BOUTEEK is proud to offer you the Oil Cap Preamp in a Limited Edition gold metallic finish. Based upon years of customer feedback and suggestions, comparisons of other high end boutique drive pedals, numerous failures, and many late nights; BOUTEEK has created a simple yet powerful tone monster. The Oil Cap Preamp has been tested with dozens of amplifiers, guitars, pickups, and pedal boards to ensure maximum usability to all guitarists of all styles. The focus on the design was to offer a drive pedal with an output ranging from hardly noticeable overdrive to medium crunch distortion, while maintaining sonic transparency and clean headroom.

What guitarists want. As we stated earlier, we have gathered all of our customer feedback from the past years to improve on older versions and to design a totally new and improved preamp. So what did our customers have to say? What have they requested in their dream drive pedal?
- Headroom and Volume
- Transparency
- Simple, Effective Tone Controls
- Natural Drive

Headroom and Volume
A majority of OD pedals are all created the same way. For example, have you ever used a Tube Screamer or equivalent pedal. You have a decent volume and overdrive sound, then you decide to back off the gain knob a bit. Where has the volume gone! With these style pedals is is nearly impossible to get a good loud nearly clean output. This was the number one comment from guitarists we have spoke with and worked with. The Oil Cap pedal has a built in clean boost circuit that will provide more headroom and low gain volume than most other OD pedals on the market. Now you will be able to use the gain knob at low settings with the volume knob up higher and get the push and headroom you will not get in a TS style pedal.

Transparency
The gain circuitry on the Oil Cap, "Push", was designed to taper slower in the early range of the knob and taper more when increased. Unlike some pedals where the slightest turn of the knob is full bore gain, the Oil Cap proved a generous range of low gain sweep. This pedal was intended for use with tube amplifiers, thus the ability to have precise control over lower gain tones is very useful, especially with the volume knob cranked. If you are the type of guitarist who like the sound of your amp, but just needs a slight push, then using the Oil Cap with the volume nearly maxed with the gain on a very low setting will make your tube amp very happy. Yes, transparency, low gain tone with volume with no tone coloration.

Simple, Effective Tone Controls
Too much, too complicated, not natural sounding... too little, not enough, can't get the sound you want. BOUTEEK wanted to improve on the standard single standard tone knob, but without going overboard with too many controls and switches. The conclusion for the Oil Cap pedal was to have a single tone knob with an added "Presence" knob . A big complaint from guitar players is that pedals change their tone too much, which is totally understandable. Why would you spend thousands of dollars on boutique guitars and amps and then have a pedal discolor your sound? The Oil Cap's "Tone" and "Presence" controls give the perfect amount of adjustments to your sound, while maintaining tonal integrity with guitar guitars and amps. The tone knob on the pedal increases and decreases the amount of low end and high end in the output, while the presence knob increases and decreases the smoothness and clarity of the output. BOUTEEK has designed the pedal to have perfect tonal unison with your dry signal with both knobs set at roughly 2-3 o clock on each knob. Then, from that starting point you have options to move away from dry signal tone unison and go in either direction. Perfection.

Natural Drive
A good tube amp wants good drive. Your best sound is when your amp and drive pedal are working together. This is the reason again, simple is better. The drive section is powered by one single OPAMP and 4 rectifying diodes. The result is warm, smooth, amp-like overdrive. If you are looking for a highly tweakable natural sounding overdrive, then this is for you. If you are looking for a high gain metal distortion pedal, it is not. Keeping the drive circuit simple maintains also maintains more of your true guitar tone, unlike the contrary, it is not passing through gain stage after gain stage after gain stage and degrading the source tone. No worries however, when the "Push" knob is maxed, due to the increased headroom it can provide very crunchy low-medium distortion. So there, you have it all.

Oil Cap
So what's with the "Oil Cap" name? It's just keeps getting better. You already thought this sounds like the pedal for you, now wait until you hear this. Upon extensive testing and experimentation, BOUTEEK has done something no other company has done before. We have used a 1-inch long MojoTone Vitamin T oil filled capacitor in this pedal. Yes, OIL FILLED! You want to talk tone. This has some serious Mojo tone going on with this preamp! Better parts equal better quality and tone. This is why guitarists spend thousands of dollars in component upgrades on already expensive amps, to make the tone better. Running the Vitamin T oil filled cap adds an unexplained remarkable richness to the drive and nuance that your TS pedals DO NOT have. So enough already, your amp is drooling for a tuneup. Let's give it some oil.

Dual DC Connections
Why stop with the features, let's continue. BOUTEEK's goal is to offer you the best in design in any way possible. That is why there are two DC jacks on the Oil Cap preamp pedal. One is the standard 9v DV input, while the second is a 9v DC output that may be used to power an adjacent 9v DC pedal. Simply use the DC output from the Oil Cap and connect it to the input of another pedal. Suggested, but not necessary when using the extra DC output, BOUTEEK advises that you power the Oil Cap preamp with an AC to DC power supply and not the internal battery power. This will prevent rapid battery loss, but is you are not using the extra DC output, internal battery use is recommended.
